PhotoPrint
PhotoPrint is a utility designed to assist in the process of printing digital photographs under Linux and other UNIX-like operating systems.
PhotoPrint is Free Software, released under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
Features:
PhotoPrint can do the following:
- Print photographs 1-up, 2-up, 4-up or with any user-selectable number of rows and columns.
- Create posters, split over several pages.
- Arrange images into a sort of Carousel, fading from one to another. (Ideal for CD labels)
- Crop images to fit a specific frame.
- Apply a decorative border to an image.
- Make use of ICC colour profiles to provide accurate output.
- Send 16-bit data to the printer, to avoid "contouring" problems in smooth gradients.
- Apply a handful of effecs to an image, including sharpening, removing colour and adjusting colour temperature (ideal for cooling or warming black-and-white prints).
Requirements:
To compile and run PhotoPrint you will need:
- Gutenprint 5.0.0 or later
- LittleCMS
- GTK+ 2.4 or later
- NetPBM
- LibJPEG
- LibTIFF
- CUPS (optional)
(For compiling, of course, you need GCC and all the appropriate -devel packages installed.)
PhotoPrint 0.4.1b - a bugfix release
2009-11-07
A major bug crept into the last release (alongside all the minor ones!) which causes a segfault if you attempt to use the "Layout -> Clear Layout" menu item. Version 0.4.1b fixes this.
*EXPERIMENTAL* Windows Installer - .exe (Created using InstallJammer)
PhotoPrint 0.4.1-pre4 Released
2009-10-11
Here's another pre-release with a few more bug fixes and new features.
Some major under-the-hood changes this time which need testing - but also one new feature - the ability to compute a hash of the current printer driver's behaviour, which can be used to detect when printer settings or updated drivers cause changes which invalidate printer profiles.
*EXPERIMENTAL* Windows Installer - .exe (Created using InstallJammer)
Please note: the Windows build is experimential. It requires an existing GTK+ installation - the easiest way to get that is to install GIMP. Note also that Photoprint cannot print using native drivers - instead it comes equipped with a Win32 build of Gutenprint.

After another long wait - here's a new pre-release of PhotoPrint!
Bug fixes, under-the-hood changes and a couple of new features. Warning: this should be considered an unstable release - the under-the-hood changes to the threading code may cause some instability.
Many thanks for everyone who's reported bugs or suggested features - many of your suggestions will be implemented in forthcoming versions.

PhotoPrint 0.4.0 Released
2009-03-15
I've finally found the time to make a release of PhotoPrint 0.4.0.
Not many new features for this release, but some significant bug fixes.
Many thanks for everyone who's reported bugs or suggested features - many of your suggestions will be implemented in forthcoming versions.
Warning! The windows build is highly experimental and almost certainly buggy and crash-prone! Like the WIn32 build of ImgTarget, it requires an existing GTK+ installation. By default it searches for and uses the GTK installation from GIMP - so you'll need that installed. Note also that Photoprint cannot print using native drivers - instead it comes equipped with a Win32 build of Gutenprint.

PhotoPrint 0.4.1-pre2 Released
2009-07-25
Hot on the heels of 0.4.1-pre1, here's another pre-release with a few more bug fixes and new features.
The most major change this time is the addition of a high-res colour-managed Print Preview.
Warning! The windows build should be considered experimental and while it's getting more stable as time goes on it's probably still buggy and crash-prone!

PhotoPrint Borders 0.0.2 Released
2009-03-29
This is a border pack to accompany PhotoPrint, released under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 UK license.

PhotoPrint 0.4.0-pre5 Released
New features at last! It is now possible to specify the "cell" size in terms of physical units instead of just the number of rows and columns. It's also possible to set the cell size to the natural size of a specific image.
The other big news for this version is that the ignored-left-and-top-margin issue in Manual layout mode is now fixed.
Thanks to everyone who's reported bugs, submitted fixes or suggested improvements!
